From 1899 to 1910 the State of Massachucetts waged war against Gypsy Moths, trying to eradicate them. This books explains all the weapons they used, the battles they fought, and how successful they were (not very). This book is an extremely interesting read.

by Robert M. McClung - 1974

The insect pest known as the gypsy moth flourishes in spite of all the campaigns mounted against it. To explain the true nature of the problem that it presents, Robert McClung assembles the available information about it.

This book is out of print. However used copies are available on both Amazon.com and eBay.
